Worlds of Fun!

I'm FINALLY catching up with my posts relating to last weekend, right in time for another weekend.

After the whole she-bang on Wednesday and Thursday we slept in a little bit Friday morning. Woke up, I did some laundry and cleaned our messy house while Seth worked on stuff outside. By mid-afternoon we were all packed up and on our way to Kansas City

First stop was our hotel. We stayed at Harrah's so we could do a little gambling. Aka lose money. We got checked in and then checked out the casino a bit before heading to the Royals game were we sat in no traffic, which was awesome.
(centered perfectly!)

I'm cheap so we used my Pepsi can to get a buy one get one free ticket in the nosebleed section. Honestly, they really weren't bad seats. Conveniently enough it was also buck night so we chowed down on hotdogs, peanuts and Pepsi. What's more American than the food? Baseball. Even when the Royals are losing I can't help but love watching Baseball. I'm not sure why I love it so much except maybe because Seth used to play and that's how met? No idea, but I do love it.

I've never seen so many people at a Royals game. Loved it!
Yes please!

And this is why America's kids are fat.
They go to a real life Royals game and prefer to sit in an
air conditioned room playing video games. Ridiculous!

Selfies!
It was pretty hot and sweaty but I was easily entertained by the lady sitting in front of me. AND the first date couple I was eavesdropping on right next to me. The girl told the guy she had been in 20 car wrecks and one involved a donkey she hit. He staid noticeably sober the whole game, presumably because he didn't want her driving him home. 20? really??

The game ended with a firework display which was great since the day before was the 4th and I obviously didn't see enough fireworks then:)

Me: "Let's take a picture with the field in the background."
Seth: "Eh, good enough."
Me: "Really??"
The Royals lost so we headed back to the casino to drown our sorrows in slot machines and black jack. No bueno. We will just say that we had something in common with the Royals and it wasn't winning. On to the next best thing. Loaded nachos at 2:00am. Hallelujah, they were amazing.
Let's say my inner fat kid came out:)
Pretty sure I passed out about 3 seconds after my head hit the pillow that night and I didn't wake up until Seth drug me from bed so we could have more fun at Worlds of Fun!! Oh, and I'm five. I freakin love Worlds of Fun and all of its roller coaster glory. Luckily we got there fairly early and we managed to ride all the roller coasters we wanted before it got too crazy crowded.

Around 1:00 we headed to the Oceans of Fun waterpark side and waited too long in lines for slides that I must say were not life changing. So we headed back to the roller coasters. Thank goodness Seth was in the mood to try out some of the roller coasters because normally he is not a fan. After a quick ride on the Patriot, where your feet dangle, he was pumped and wanted to get right back in line. Who am I to argue?

One terrible photo with the Patriot in the background.
Fly high Patriot, fly high.
We ended out the weekend by stopping by Buffalo Wild Wings and then heading home to pass out and sleep until 11:30 the next day. My kinda weekend:)

4th of July Recap

Warning: Photo overload in this post!

I'm disappointed that this holiday is over so quickly. It's probably a good thing though because I'm still exhausted from all the shenanigans. Good thing it's almost the weekend again:)

It was a fantastic 4 days away from work and filled with lots of food.

My hubs made it home Wednesday night, just in time to shower and change before heading to a 3rd of July party. We ate some food, drank some drinks, and watched people try to blow things up. What's not to love?

Excuse me, it was so cold, I wore a sweater. In July.

My cousin Sophia and my husband have a very love-hate relationship.

Sophia and I just have a Love-love relationship.

No one was harmed during the exploding of these explosives.

Thursday morning I got a little sleep while Seth mowed the yard. His favorite thing to do. Seriously, it is. I cut up some fruit to take to the family reunion at my Grandma's and we picked up a bucket of fried chicken. Oh yum, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

What? You don't cut your fruit into star shapes?

Lots of people showed up to Grandma's and after saying the pledge of allegiance and praying we chowed down on all the food.

Grandpa leading the group in The Pledge. Enjoy the socks.

Julie, would you like some carbs with your chicken? Why yes, I think I would thanks!

Perhaps a slice of Peanut Butter Pizza as well? Don't mind if I do!

It was then time to relax and enjoy our adult bevvies while watching little kids. So responsible, aren't we?
Maybe my husband and I have reclining lawn chairs.

My cousin Dominic and his girlfriend with the most patriotic
hand-painted cooler I've ever seen!

I don't even know. Yankee doodle dandy maybe?

Just eating a brownie before her sister can steal it from her.

Since a bunch of the cousins were decked out in our matching apparel we thought it best to take a photo. Obviously, we ordered our Grandparent's shirts as well. What Grandparent's wouldn't love a "Time to Get Star Spangled Hammered" shirt?

Cheers, America!

Here's a terribly unflattering photo of me with some of the cousins. You're welcome.

Me and hubs. Mildly freaked out by overly skinny wrists.

We were the entertained by a hearty rendition of "cups" courtesy of my cousin Michael.

Seth managed to hit not one but two triples in the family softball game. His team won. nbd.

Good thing he hit the ball far because he's not too fast. Sorry love.

Then we ate some more (not to be confused with a s'more) before enjoying all the night time fireworks.
Grandma and Grandpa enjoying the fireworks.
Notice Grandpa never changed out of his shirt:)

It was definitely an amazing 4th and no one lost an eye. Bonus! Can't wait until the next one:)

Exciting News!!

I'm so behind in blogland. Yikes.

I haven't read any blogs since last Wednesday and I haven't written either so please excuse me. I've been living in real life instead of bloglife and the two just didn't happen to overlap the last few days.

Don't worry though, I snapped plenty of photos to post up here recapping my 4th of July weekend later in the week.

I'm a tad bit sleepy at the moment after all the festivities. Plus, my phone rang at 6:15 this morning because the air vent cleaning guy wanted to give me a courtesy call that his guys would be there in 45 minutes. Seriously? 45 minutes? All I needed was a pair of pants and a bra. 5 minutes would have been plenty of notice. Ehh.

My vents are clean though which I'm hoping means my allergies will get better. Being the multi-tasker that I am I also had the septic guy out at the same time. Turns out neither of those things are cheap so let's just say I spent almost a whole weeks salary before 10am this morning. Lame.

I seriously need a vacation right now to rest up from my weekend. Lots of fun. Not lots of sleep.

And so this post isn't incredibly lame. I leave you with some exciting news...Seth should be moving home in 2 weeks! Cross your fingers, knock on wood, that nothing changes:)

How many of you thought the exciting news
was that I was pregnant?! Sorry:)

4th of July Crafting

It's FRIDAY!! Okay, so it's not really Friday but it's my last work day of the week which essentially means, it's Friday. If it's not your Friday, please excuse my exuberance in this post.

I'm ready for 4 beautiful days of nothing but fun times on fun times on fun times. Hubs will be on his way home from Texas in a few short hours and then we are heading over to a 3rd of July party to get the weekend started right.

We've got a great weekend planned in Kansas City, Kansas City here we come (feel free to sing along.) Look forward to that update next week.

Well, on to business.

As I think I have already explained. I love the 4th. A lot. So, I've been doing a few crafts to help me celebrate.

A lovely little banner wreath on our front door.

Then I painted a few colorful blocks.

Mod Podged and freehanded a couple letters...
And BOOM! A patriotic bathroom. (nevermind the fuzzy-ness)
Find the patriotic printable here
Looking forward to an amazing weekend. Remember, don't shoot your eye out!

4th of July Preview

I recently decided that July is probably one of my favorite months. I don't think I could pick just one month to be a favorite so I will stick with one of my favorites.

What's not to love about July? (Besides, the sunburns, sweltering heat, and someone stealing the last pool chair, obviously.)
It's the middle of the summer and the livings easy. The days just seem to slide on by without a care in the world.

The month starts out with a bang (literally) when the Fourth of July arrives. The 4th makes me happier than an ADD kid with a paper bag full of explosives and a fistful of matches. In case you're wondering, that's pretty damn excited.

Around these parts we have a huge family reunion with my grandpa's family (on my mom's side). My grandpa is one of 10 kids and each of those kids now has kids, grandkids and great grandkids and they all show up. Just my Grandpa alone has 7 kids (6 are married), with 34 grandkids (lots are married now) and probably a dozen or so great grandkids. And I'm sure you're confused so, let's just say, there's a lot of people.

The tables in the garage are piled high with KFC chicken, pasta salads, baked beans, fruit and veggie trays, and more desserts than the home page of Pinterest. Before eating we all gather underneath my Grandma's flag pole and say the Pledge of Allegiance and sometimes break into a hearty rendition of America the Beautiful (Oh beautiful for spacious skies...) because we're patriotic like that.

After the fingers have been licked and the beers have been cracked, we recline in our lawn chairs to catch up on the good ole' days and make fun of each other. Once we can discretely re-button our top button, half the group heads across the street to the local ball fields to start up a friendly game of softball. The in-laws vs. the out-laws. The other half squeezes our fat butts slips gracefully into swimsuits to go relax in the local pool where the softball half later joins us.

The evening arrives before we know it and we are back at the food table devouring munching the leftovers and bringing out more food for the people who decided to stay for the fireworks. Our chairs are packed onto the bug-free driveway and the little kids are shoved onto flammable blankets, with sparklers in hand. We all break our necks staring into the sky as we ooh and aah at the city fireworks display as well as the competing neighbors dynamite sticks.  It's a literal surround sound of explosions and terror and utter delight as we soak in the glorious days of summer.

If that didn't get you all nostalgic for the most patriotic day of days, check out these 15 people who probably love America a little more than you do

I dare you to argue this guy doesn't love Americuh!
I'll tell my (Army Sergeant) brother you said "thanks" for fighting for your freedom to enjoy this great country we proudly call America!

He's single ladies:) (and back in the states)

Flooding Basements

I was exhausted yesterday. I blame my allergies, the heat, a tough workout and lack of sleep. Since I was falling asleep in the shower I decided to go to bed early. 10pm actually. Usually I don't get to bed until closer to 11:30 so 10 is amazing. I was all snuggled up and was in a dreamland by 10:15. For the second time in a month I was jolted from bed to the sound of my security system going off. I tripped down the stairs knowing already that the torrential downpour outside was the source of my problem.

My sump pump was overflowing into my basement.

With all the rain it couldn't keep up and now it was slowly spilling over. Between the incessantly annoying beeps of the pump, and the water sloshing in, I called my husband (two states away) to say, "what do I do?"

Our basement is finished except for the little back room that houses the sump pump, water heater and furnace. And like all other basement rooms that house those things, it's creepy. Spider webs, open ceiling beams, and lots of dust. Not to mention the fear that I will see a mouse which causes me sheer terror. I obviously couldn't let the water continue to flood into the finished part of the basement so I did what my husband suggested. Hating it the whole time.

I climbed the stairs out of my basement and headed out to the garage to grab the little pump that my husband so conveniently happened to have. Seriously, lifesaver. Traipsed out into the rain to unhook the muddy hose from the side of the house and drag both it and the pump down into the basement. I hooked the hose up to the pump and dropped it into the sump pump hole. I stuck the other end of the hose out the window. Then I had to drag my happy ass back outside into the downpour to pull the end of the hose away from the house and re-hook up a pipe that my loving puppy so thoughtfully knocked down which created extra water into the basement. Keep in mind that this whole time I'm in a pajama shirt, boots and mud smeared across my arms from the stupid hose. I'm sure if the neighbors had looked outside they would have called the cops on the creeper stealing things from my basement.

Fortunately the rain started to subside and the sump pump was able to keep up on it's own so I could finally go back to bed. Furious and fuming that my precious sleep had been interrupted.

I'm so over being the man of the house.

Dear Husband, Please finish up your out of town job so you can come home!

Wedding Photos

1 year, 8 months and 11 days after my wedding I FINALLY have a wedding photo on my wall!
It's a freakin' miracle!
That's right, it's bigger than my head.
Obviously you are thinking to yourself that surely, I AM, the master of procrastination? You would be right young grasshopper, I AM.

Because of my knowledge and deep interest in the subject I have decided to share with you all the tips to being a Procrastinator. That's right, all aboard the lazy train because we are taking a ride to the Procrastination Station!

Step 1: Be Lazy.
Lounge on your couch for as many hours a day as possible. Only get up to go the fridge, or the junk food cabinet. Make sure if you have to use the bathroom you make it worth your while and hit the fridge again on the way back to your butt indented couch. And yes, a butt indented couch is a real thing. I have one.

Step 2: Be indecisive.
Whenever you have a million things to do, spend hours deciding what you should do first, and what you should put off 'til later. By the time you're done deciding it will be too late to accomplish anything.

Step 3: I'll figure this out later.

Three steps will obviously suffice at the Procrastination Station. Now get out there and procrastinate people! After a couple days that is. If you want to.
