Things I'm currently loving...

Anything and everything gold!

The beautiful flowers my husband sent me for no reason on Tuesday.

The Maroon 5 song Sugar. It's so good!!

Gas prices. I can't even believe they are so low. Hopefully I'm not jinxing it.

(Okay, so maybe I used some fuel points on this one.)

Peeling wallpaper. Oh wait…I HATE that.

Giant greasy hamburgers. Not sure why but almost everyday I want to eat a hamburger. (Don't worry I don't. Sadly.)

My husbands butt in these jeans…

American Sniper, the movie. It was really good and super intense. Makes you appreciate our freedom and what soldiers do for our country. You know it was good when the theatre is dead silent as the credits roll until people start clapping. Check it out.

The lovely free printable Meal Planner I made for all you lovely readers :) You can find a downloadable file of it on my Blog BFF Kala's page My Breezy Room!

Have a lovely weekend!!

First Time at the Farmers Market

With my new job comes this lovely little perk called "summer hours". Basically, Monday through Thursday you work an extra hour each day and then you get every other Friday off. For a grand total of 5 Friday's off throughout summer. It's fantastic!

I enjoyed my first Friday off this past Friday. I spent the day catching up on cleaning. Boring I know, but I did have family coming over on Saturday for a Fathers Day cookout so I figured I better make the main floor presentable.

Besides wasting my whole day doing laundry and cleaning, I decided to do some baking to take to the local Farmer's Market. Since I have a fairly large garden and I'm hoping to take some extra produce to the Farmers Market later this summer I wanted to check it out before hand.

I baked up some super simple peanut butter dog treats as well as some super delicious human treats that I like to call chocolate chip cookies. (P.S. I'm a CCC addict. The first step is admitting the problem right?!)

Guess which is which!

I decided to give my  Grandma, who is a notorious bread maker in my home town, a call and see if she wanted to bake a few loaves I could sell for her. She contributed 8 still warm from the oven loaves of bread. My mom also added in some of her beautifully iced sugar cookies and I threw in a couple jars of my homemade apple butter. I was all set and ready for the sale.

Since you only have to pay 5 bucks for a space I figured the worst case scenario was I lost 5 dollars and gained a few extra pounds eating the cookies. Luckily the FM had a decent crowd during the 5-7 time period and I sold 6 loaves of Grandma's bread and several packages of both kinds of cookies and dog treats plus almost all the apple butter.

The next day my parents were having a garage sale so my mom sold almost all the rest of my homemade goodies. Now don't get me wrong, I still ate my fair share of cookies but I'm okay with that:)

I spent the rest of the long weekend hanging out at home cleaning up the house and having a cookout. My mom and I did manage a mini movie marathon and watched The Fault in Our Stars and Maleficent on Sunday. I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars yet which I hate because I always prefer reading the book first but I thought the movie was excellent and I'm pretty sure there wasn't a dry eye by the end of it. Maleficent was also good but not quite what I was expecting. Overall I would recommend TFIOS if you can only pick one.

Hope you all had a good weekend! Maybe I'll share my dog treat recipe soon.

I don't eat healthy...

It's Monday and I don't hate it. Despite the white crap falling from the sky for half the weekend I had a pretty fantastic one. Which is maybe why my Monday seems pretty good.

Nothing like leaving work on Friday and heading straight to the spa for a full body massage to get your weekend started off right. I managed to make it home early enough to head out to dinner at Fuzzy's with Seth and a quick stop into the ice cream shop for some "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" which consists of chocolate, fudge bites and more chocolate all scooped into a melt in your mouth waffle cone. Aka: heaven. After the massage, dinner and ice cream I slipped into a food coma on my couch until Seth woke me up to go to bed. Success.

Take me back
I had to set my alarm so I wouldn't be late to pick up my mom and head to the movie theatre for an all day movie marathon on Saturday. We started the marathon with popcorn for breakfast as we watched Disneys Frozen, which I loved. It was so cute to see all the dads there with their young daughters. (Somebody please put me on the list for my own kid. K thanks.)

Please excuse our lack of photography skills. (I blame the butter.)
Once Frozen ended we hustled over to the other side of the theatre to catch American Hustle while we ate concession nachos for lunch. Fantastic. Definitely recommend. (Both the movie and the nachos.)

We finished out the marathon with Non-stop, the new action flick with Liam Neeson. I'd say it was pretty good, but I liked the other two movies better. It kept you guessing the whole movie but seemed a little unrealistic which is okay with me since it's a movie.

To end our day properly (I feel British when I say that word) we hit up Sam's club for a hot dog and frozen yogurt for dinner before braving the blizzard to head home.

I now weigh 500 pounds.

Sunday consisted of Church, followed by breakfast with my Mom and then the rest of the day with my butt planted firmly on the couch.

I now weigh 600 pounds.

I managed to pry myself from the couch in time to make dinner. And, since I was feeling a little guilty from my weekend gorge-fest I decided to shred a little zucchini to add to the spaghetti pie I made. That counts for something right?

See, healthy.
I'm told mozzarella now has 0 calories.
Plus I only ate one spoonful of Nutella as my dessert during the Oscars. #winning #fatkid #fattuesdaymorelikefatweekend

Winter will you please end before I weigh 1000 lbs? Thanks!

Weekend Recap and Lobsters

It's the most dreaded day of the week again, Monday! Actually my Monday's aren't too terrible. The work load is usually pretty light which is convenient since I'm always sleepy. Today is no exception.

Seth was home for the weekend so I knew I was in for some type of manual labor. I'm pretty sure he has forgotten what it means to take it easy or relax on the weekends since that is the only time he is home to get anything done. Luckily, he didn't have anything too crazy in mind.

I managed to sleep in until 9:30 Saturday which hardly ever happens anymore, so that was pretty nice. I woke up just in time to throw on some old clothes and ride into town, with Seth, to get some diesel for the skid loader and a cookie for breakfast. I know, healthy choices people!

We came home and I decided, with a friendly nudge from my adorable husband, to finally stain our beck deck. It has only been two years-ish since we power-washed and bought the stain so I don't see what the big rush is, but it was a sunny day so I happily obliged. Happily only because I knew I could get my tan on at the same time. Plus I could jam out to Pandora.

About an hour in to the staining, I decided that sunblock would probably be a good idea. Apparently an hour was a little too long to wait or else year old sunblock is not a good idea. Either way, my back is a lobster. A bright red, freshly boiled, lobster.

See, I look like a lobster

But doesn't my deck look great?!
Quite the upgrade, if I may say so.

My husband decided to reward all my hard work/tan burn time with dinner and a movie. Steak and potatoes. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in The Internship, good stuff I tell ya. (I should probably note that my husband did yard work will I stained the deck. Don't want anyone to freak that my husband makes me do work while he does nothing.)

Sunday was uneventful and included a nap, my husband staying home an extra night and some buttery popcorn. A good day in my books.

Heading home after work to take an apple cider vinegar bath. Supposedly it helps keeps your sunburn from peeling?? Not too optimistic over here.

7 Quick Takes (1)

1. I got some super duper cute Easter decor that was marked 75% off. Oh, and it was from Dillons (Kroger). Only spent about $9 total for two boxes of eggs, a wreath and two platters that I'm seriously in love with. They look more spring than Easter-y so I'm not even packing them away with the other Easter stuff.

Love these platters!

2. I have several books on my "to read" list including several classics - A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Great Gatsby. I haven't read the former but I did read Gatsby in school. I'm wanting to re-read it before the movie comes out though.

3. Random thought of the week - I wonder if someday my generations form of tobacco will be pop (soda for all you people that don't know what that is). You know what I mean? People smoked for years and people got addicted while no one really knew it was bad for you. Now, you have to be over 18 to buy tobacco products and they charge a fortune for them. Will that happen to pop in the future? We already know it's not good for us and that we probably shouldn't drink it but we still do. Is it crazy to think that pop can have such adverse effects on our health that someday it's behind the counter and you have to be 18 to purchase it? Would I still drink it?

4. I'm really wanting to go see the movie "42" with my husband. It looks amazing plus we LOVE baseball.

5. I sent my husband the following last night..."I bought you two Reeses Eggs at the grocery store tonight. There's one left. I love you!!" My bad.

6. Today makes 7 days in a row that we were able to put Gunnar in his dog pen without him running away from us. A small but great victory since he can't destroy the neighbors stuff while we are at work.

7. My parents officially started digging the hole for their new house yesterday! Yay. Oh, and they aren't out there with shovels or anything, I meant the excavator people:)
