Dear Husband: DVR

Dear Husband:

I've been thinking (don't worry I didn't hurt myself). I think it's about time we poney up for a DVR. You know, one of those fancy little boxes we can get from our cable company. It lets us record all of our shows so that we can watch them later, WITHOUT commercials. I mean, does "commercial free" really not persuade you as to the awesomeness of this magical little box? In case it doesn't, I've come up with a few more reasons that should help convince you.

First and foremost it's the year 2013.

Ain't nobody got time to sit around and wait for their shows to come on. Our shows need to be ready and waiting for us! We have way too many statuses to update, photos of food to take, and passwords to remember, to waste our time waiting on our tv shows to come on.

Secondly, it's efficient.

We will be able to watch almost twice as many shows in half the time. As your good friend Charlie would say, "winning!"

Thirdly, you're moving home.

Well, this point could cover multiple different areas so I will try to sum it up as quickly and efficiently as possibly.
  • Now that you have cancelled your cable subscription in TX, we have what I like to call a "Television Surplus." Basically, this means that our cable bill was cut in half and we can now (easily, I might add) afford to pay the extra $7 a month to have DVR.
  • You have your shows, I have mine. Why can't we both enjoy what we love?
  • Maybe you would like it if I cooked dinner every now and then? It's going to be hard to cook dinner when I can't pause my shows or watch them later. I hope you like popcorn!

Lastly, let's just say, you always like to make me happy.

Which I love! However, I also like to make you happy and I'm pretty sure watching episode after episode of the Kardashians, Pretty Wicked Moms, Dance Moms, Sister Wives and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is not a good way to make you Happy Happy Happy! So, let's just do us a both a favor and splurge on that little black box, mkay?! :)

We both have vices and tv just happens to be mine.

Love your wife,
(who will always have time thanks to a DVR)

7 Quick Takes {9}

Alright people, let's do this!

Linking up with Jen at Conversion Diary.

1. I'm finally doing a garage sale this weekend! I'm joining up with one of my aunts and cousins at their house so it should be lots of fun. If you don't hear from me next week it's because I made millions selling my junk and I have moved to an island in the Caribbean. I think I've made 7 bucks so far so there's a good chance I'll be living by the ocean come Monday.

2. While I'm slaving away at the sweaty garage sale my husband is gone for the weekend at Lake of the Ozarks for a bachelor party. I must say I'm a little jealous he gets to hang out on the water. Good thing our cruise is booked so I have something to look forward too.

3. Since Seth was actually home last night I made dinner (where's my award?). Aka: nachos. I must say that they were freakin' amazing and I love being able to use some of the produce from our own garden. I like to think that makes my nachos "healthy."
See, healthy!

4. I have approximately 12 different future blog posts that I have started and saved in my "save as draft" email folder at work. Whenever I have downtime with nothing to do but wait on other people, I write stuff down so I don't forget. My memory isn't the best. I'm pretty sure my life now revolves around the thought, "oh, I can so blog about this!"

5. I'm pretty sure nine out of ten people I know are either getting married or having a baby sometime in the next year. It's like an epidemic. I'm just over here like, "Hey I'm married, I never see my husband, so it's hard to make babies, but have you met my dog, or seen this really cool craft project I made?"

6. My refrigerator is so embarrassing right now. I have always sworn I would never be one of those people with a messy refrigerator but that is exactly what is going on in my house right now. I partially blame my obsession with condiments...who has so many condiments that they can't all fit in the door? This girl apparently. You name a condiment and I would just about guarantee it's in my fridge. On a brighter note my tupperware cabinet is beautifully organized and has been that way since I moved in. I don't think many people can say that, can they?! I hate unorganized tupperware and not being able to find a lid.  Ain't nobody got time for that!

7. Honey Boo Boo returned this past Wednesday night much to my excitement! Let's just say as gross and disgusting as it was last season it was worse this season. Like, I almost didn't want to watch it for fear of puking, gross-ness. Picking up a roadkill pig and then cooking the hoofs to eat with beans...who does that? And Mama June and Sugar Bear getting all "romantic?" Please hand me a puke bag.

Have you ever seen anything more terrifying? via

The Blog Life

Yesterday as I was getting ready for bed I decided I felt like I had a blogger kind of day.

I worked my normal 8-5 job and emailed a bloggy friend, read some blogs, and perused Pinterest during downtime.

After work, I stopped at a hardware store and picked up some paint, a gunny sack and a few pieces of bamboo. Might sound random, but it's not.

Stopped in at Hobby Lobby to discover that even though it's 97° outside and June, that won't stop them from putting out the fall decorations. Instagramed that obviously.

seriously??

Texted my cousin about the cute 4th of July outfit she should totally get her daughter.
Couldn't decide what shoes...
Stumbled upon several aisles of 80% off home decor and went a little crazy. Okay, not too crazy but crazy enough that when the husband called I said, "Sure honey, you should totally buy that new golf bag!" I also managed to find the two items that I went in for in the first place. Winning.

Swung by the Dollar Tree to pick up a couple crafting items that were needed and found a couple additional bargains. No big deal.

Made it home in time to do a little spray painting, burlapping and other crafting (that will be seen here tomorrow) before it got dark.

Played with the puppy and watered my rapidly growing garden.

Came inside and made up a quick Pinterest chicken recipe that was super yummy.

Watched some reality tv, Pretty Wicked Moms. Followed it up with an episode of Call the Midwife and fell asleep.

If that's not the blog life, I don't know what is.

Top 10 Tuesday: Guilty Pleasure TV

So I must admit I'm kind of a tv junkie. Okay, kind of might be an understatement.

I blame my tv watching on the fact that I am fascinated at getting a glimpse of what other people's lives are like. I'm the person who could sit at the airport or on a bench for hours just to watch the people. Is that weird?

Anyways, turns out there is a lot of "reality" tv on these days so it's pretty easy for me to get sucked in. I know it's called reality tv but I still realize it's not all "real" so no worries there.

Without further ado I give you my favorite Guilty Pleasure TV shows in no particular order. (please don't judge me:)

1. Dance Moms - Super talented little girls vie for the attention of Miss Abby, the dance teacher, while the mom's argue about who's going behind who's back to earn their child extra attention from Miss Abby. Lots of cat fights and cute dances. What's not to love?

2.  BuckWildBasically the Jersey Shore of small town country people in West Virginia. Potato guns, trucks and muddin'.

3.  CatfishA series about a guy, Nev, who travels around the U.S. meeting people who are in online relationships with someone they have never met face to face. Nev talks to the person who asks for his help and then does basic internet searches on the other person in the relationship. Many times he discovers that people are not always who they say they are online. Shocker I know.

4. Teen Mom 2 - This show makes me happy and sad. Some of the mom's are at least decent at parenting their children but there are pretty much terrible at all other relationships. This show doesn't hide how hard it can be to be a teen parent.

5.  Here Comes Honey Boo BooWhat is there to say about this except that you have to watch it to believe it. A family who is very....different:) They like to make their own words such as vajiggle jaggle and sketti and they sneeze more times in an episode than you have fingers on your hands and toes on your feet. It's  like a train wreck that you can't turn your back on.
6.  Toddlers and TiarasThe show where Honey Boo Boo got her start and Mom's across the states parade their little girls in "beauty pageants." This show draws me in because I can't believe that some people are so crazy as to wax their five year olds eyebrows or spray tan their eleven month olds. When watching it's easy to see that the creators of the show also realize how crazy they think it is by creatively editing a kid screaming bloody murder right after they show a mom say how much their child LOVES the pageants. Not!

7. HoardersNothing like turning on a good episode of Hoarders when you need motivation to clean your house. I've had to dial this show back a little bit in recent years because they kept getting more and more disgusting and my weak stomach couldn't handle it. Watch at your own risk and don't try to eat at the same time:)

8. Keeping up with the Kardashians (plus the Miami spinoff) - I know people love to hate the Kardashians but let's be honest somebody besides me must be watching them. They are pretty darn funny and entertaining I must admit. Maybe they have no talent but who really cares? At least they seem to have a pretty close knit family that likes to spend time together. I come from a large extended family so I can relate to some of the crazy loudness that goes on that others are baffled by.

9. Several Real Housewives shows (including but not limited to BH, Miami, New Jersey, OC and New York) - This is the show that I'm pretty sure coined the term "catfight." These women are vicious! Many of the episodes are about absolutely nothing except a ridiculous argument that makes you choose sides. It's nice to see the inside of some insanely lavish houses though.

10.  Extreme CouponingSeventy two bottles of mustard for free?! Sign me up! Ha. This show has come under a bit of scrutiny with viewers and avid couponers who have pointed out that many times fraudulent coupons are being used to get these "free" items. I still think you can learn something from the show if you are interested in learning to coupon but remember that just because it's reality tv doesn't mean that everything you see is real.

Well, there it is...the post of television shame. I promise I watch some other decent shows too but that's for another day:)

Happy Tuesday!!
